Jesse Jobson
Cyber Security Department — Marceline, Missouri
At Walsworth, I am currently a cyber security analyst. In the past, I was a systems support (aka service desk) technician here.
My day-to-day activities consist of analyzing network and systems and responding or advising as needed to keep our network and data secure. Past that, I assist with continued development of Walsworth’s cyber security program.
I love problem solving and coming up with ways to improve things.
If I had a personalized coffee mug at work, it wouldn’t say anything. Coffee mugs can’t talk.
I have been around Walsworth and the printing industry all my life as my dad was a press and bindery worker and my mom did cottage work at Walsworth.
I started out on the high school yearbook staff my sophomore through senior years. Directly after graduating, I was hired by my high school as the Technology Director while I attended college. I was enrolled in graphic arts classes as I pursued a degree in Information Systems. During my first year in college, I assisted the yearbook staff in converting from paste up to submitting digitally by disc. The next year, I was the assistant yearbook adviser as we switched from disc to the first version of Online Design and changed our book to full four-color printing. I worked as a yearbook adviser for two years, and our team worked with Walsworth as we moved to the second version of Online Design. After a brief hiatus, I started at Walsworth in 2012, worked as a Systems Support Tech I for a little over a year, and came back in 2018 as a Systems Support Tech II.
Most of my college was paid for with a scholarship from Walsworth, and they have offered opportunities to advance my learning during my time here. Working here has provided stable employment to be able to take care of my family.
My family is two toddlers and myself, a few chickens, a dog, a cat, a rabbit and whatever else shows up and decides to stay.
I love family time. Most of my time outside the workplace is dedicated to my kids, whether I am taking care of them, playing with them, finding things to keep them occupied or letting them help me with whatever project I’m working on. For the past four years, I have been rehabilitating our 1910 Victorian house (the third house I’ve redone that is over 100 years old).
I enjoy carpentry, gardening, swimming, hiking, fishing, hunting and listening to live music. You might see me driving around to take pictures of the local landscape, at a local festival, sitting around a bonfire or singing karaoke.
When I can, I assist at the Knights of Columbus and provide tech support for St. Bonaventure Catholic Church and Father McCartan Memorial School in Marceline. This community has been great to my family the past couple years.
