Nikki Medlin
Yearbook Billing Administrator – Marceline, Missouri
At Walsworth, I am the Yearbook Billing Administrator. I’ve always worked in accounting since I started with Walsworth.
In my day-to-day work, I compile the list cost for each yearbook job. I also do the final invoice that goes out to the school after the books ship.
When I started at Walsworth, I was looking for a career close to home. I have been with Walsworth for 22 years and have worked in Yearbook Billing since day one!
I think the coolest thing about my job is that every day is a new day. Talking to different schools and sales reps never gets boring, and I don’t like boring!
If I had a personalized coffee mug at work, it would say “Shake it off and just keep smiling!”
What I love most about my job is I enjoy my work family! I feel like I make a difference with the job I do at Walworth, so that helps, too. Being appreciated goes a long way!
A fun fact about me is I’ve been known to plan a party or two. Having four kids go through school gave me LOTS of practice. I guess that is why I am on the Fun Committee at Walsworth!
My husband and I have four children. The youngest graduated from high school in 2022. Their ages are 33, 31, 24 and 18. We have two grandchildren. As far as pets, I feel like we’ve always had a collection. Our kids would show up with a dog and then go away to college and the dog stayed with us. We currently have a 15-year-old Newfoundland, four labs, a long-haired chihuahua, and an outside cat! The four labs seem to be a collection belonging to our youngest son. He’s been told he has to take them when he moves out!
When we’re not at work, our activities have always been centered around school events that our children were involved in. Now that the youngest has graduated, we are trying to figure out how to adjust and be able to finally do more things that we love. Camping, fishing and spending time with family are at the top of our list! And I can’t forget to mention we have been Kansas City Chiefs fans since long before it was cool!
I am grateful because I was able to get my associate’s degree in Business Management while employed with Walsworth. Having a career with insurance and benefits allowed me to provide for my family while still being close to home.
While my kids were in school, I loved taking pictures of them at school events! I tried to get pictures of other kids as well, especially ones whose parents didn’t always attend the events. I wanted the kids to feel special and have memories to look back on. It is an opportunity that they might not otherwise get. The newspaper used photos I posted to Facebook. Our local school even used some for their yearbook. Capturing memories may not seem like much now, but it will mean a lot in the years to come.
Being at Walsworth for 22 years, I’ve seen several people come and go. The work friendships are great and my coworkers, past or present, are people that I will never forget!
