Kyle Stuttgen
PreMedia Operator, Eau Claire, Wisconsin
I work at Walsworth – Eau Claire in the Prepress department. I spend most of my day working on design and formatting jobs creating anything from magazines, brochures, social media ads and directories. I can also spend a portion of the day proofing customer-supplied files to ensure they are print-ready.
I started as an intern while finishing college and after graduating was hired at Documation full-time. So in all, it has been about ten and a half years. I actually was planning to be a teacher while growing up. However, once I had my computer science classes in high school where we went through all of the Adobe programs over four years I knew I loved the file creation side of that and wanted to do that going forward.
I was introduced to printing when choosing my major in college, which was Graphic Communications Management. For that major, we focused on the entire process of designing and creating the files and running the equipment to produce the pieces.
The two things I love the most about my job are any of the larger formatting jobs I get to work on and figuring out ways to speed up any day-to-day process I can, whether it’s within InDesign for formatting jobs or creating Pitstop actions to speed up processing print-ready files.
I want to come to work every day because of great coworkers and customers who love to work with us.
A fun fact about me is that I have baked cakes and cupcakes for several weddings. My younger brother’s four-tier cake was the largest single cake, and my younger sister had the most cakes – nine cakes in total in four different flavors.
I have a dog who will be eight years old this year. Molly is a little Morkie and goes with me pretty much anywhere she can. My parents and siblings all live within the area so we are close and I see at least one of them almost every week.
I love to spend time with my family playing board games, going camping in the summer and having movie nights. I also love to work on house projects and bake. I am a pretty big baker and love to bake just about anything. Now that my nieces are getting older they love to come bake cookies with me, which could partly be because they always go home with a full plate of cookies. 😉
Being new to the Walsworth family, I appreciate the benefits like a 401k match and HSA funds, which can really help everyone set themselves up for a great future.
I give back to my community by being involved with my church. I am always helping out where I can, whether I’m running the sound or slides for service and worship nights or helping out with community events.
