Ryan Sebacher
PreMedia Operator, Fulton, Missouri
I work at Walsworth – Fulton as a PreMedia Operator. I take the customer PDF files and build a template to create an imposition. After this is done I can use the imposition to make plates for the presses. I started as a stacker in the pressroom. I then worked as a web tender for quite some time. I was a 2nd man for only a short period on press before moving to EPP. I’ve worked here just shy of 18 years – I started when the plant was still called The Ovid Bell Press.
The coolest part of my job is getting to see the machinery in action. The Kodak image setters are amazing machines, as well as the NELA benders are pretty cool to watch work. Presses are also amazing to watch work. You get used to just seeing them work after a long time, but they are pretty amazing machines.
My personalized coffee mug would say: “Lord Chungus.”
I want to come to work every day because of the funny and kind people who make every day better to be alive.
A fun fact about me is that I love golfing. This is good, because otherwise, I may never touch grass. I also enjoy computer gaming, sports betting and spending time with family. I also change cars I drive too often.
I love my family very much. They are all so kind, hardworking, intelligent, funny people. My brother has a wonderful family; his wife (Michele), daughters (Elise and Elizabeth), son (Ian) and dog (Feya). My sister has a great husband (Heath) and a son (Stephen).
Walsworth has contributed to my future by employing me and so many other wonderful local people. There is no telling how much they have done just by providing good jobs to good people.
I give back to my community by buying and eating all the local food anyone makes.
My favorite memory of working at Walsworth is from when I was still pretty new and I was really bad at making splices on press. My co-worker at the time told me that I was cut off from making splices. I kept just making him let me try and pretty soon I became really great at it. We still talk about how bad I was at first, even 8000 years later.
