Mark McCombs
Commercial Sales Representative, Lee’s Summit, Missouri
I am a Commercial Sales Representative. I find new business and develop existing business, working with publishers, associations and other organizations. I get to introduce Walsworth to customers and not-yet customers, expanding our reach in the marketplace. I started at Walsworth in July 2023.
I started in litho in 1995 at a film output house, and have been actively involved in book printing since 1998. I’ve known of Walsworth and have kept tabs on them for about 20 years! Sallie Buck was my rep when I brokered printing, and I’ve worked with a lot of people who have always spoken highly of Walsworth. I’ve always enjoyed being involved in the production of printed pieces, and still marvel at how it all gets put together through the skill and experience of those on the floor.
The coolest part of my job is meeting new people, and the challenge of the “hunt” of finding new customers and hearing their stories of how pleased they are once they start working with us.
I want to come to work every day for the chance to grow our business and find new ways of connecting.
My personalized coffee mug would say: “Carpe Diem.”
A fun fact about me is I grew up a “Pepsi” brat (like an Army brat but my dad worked for Pepsi and we got moved around about every two to three years), even living in Manila, Philippines, as a kid. I like to play golf, garden, fish, and work out.
I’ve been married to my wife Cyndi for almost 28 years. I met her on her first day in Columbia, MO, when I was a sophomore at Mizzou and she was a freshman. We have three awesome daughters; Lily, 23, Tess, 21 and Caroline, 18 – all Mizzou Tigers – MIZ!
I really appreciate the support, from an awesome Salesforce admin to Marketing, IT, Estimating, Customer Service, Management and Production, that Walsworth offers – it really does feel like a team environment where everyone is working together for a common goal. Growing up in a small town, I appreciate that our company operates in rural areas. I’m also impressed by Walsworth’s commitment to the environment.
I give back to my community by delivering Meals on Wheels over my lunch break on Fridays. It’s a small thing, but I have come to really enjoy getting to know the people I deliver to every week.
My favorite memory of working at Walsworth is the sales meeting in Tampa; it was good meeting everyone in person and learning more about how we can contribute.
