Stephanie Streicher
Graphic Designer, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Seven years ago, I started as a yearbook sales representative for Walsworth Yearbooks in Pennsylvania. I spent two years there before moving closer to home in the Midwest, taking care of the Minnesota and western Wisconsin territory. Through that role, I found my passion truly lies with training students and helping them develop and create the yearbook of their dreams. This eventually allowed me to take the leap and join the marketing department as a graphic designer, a role I’ve held for the last three years.
I love my job because I get to wear many hats. I have the opportunity to service a few schools from my previous territories which keeps me connected to what our customers need most out of a yearbook publisher. It also keeps me in the know for current trends in the design and yearbook community, which I take into my work within the marketing department.
My friends always tell me “You are doing exactly what I thought you would be doing growing up.” I get to create on my computer every day and travel the country to help students develop a yearbook that captures one of the most memorable times of their lives. I love having the ability to create and help students do the same, especially if a skill they learn in yearbook is something they hope to pursue in the long term.
I’ve worked for the print industry for the last nine years. I worked for a label manufacturer for two years in college before graduating and coming to work for Walsworth, where I’ve held a variety of roles. I love everything to do with yearbook; the printing process, the teaching of real-world skills, working with students, creating art and having something tangible that will last a lifetime. Print is an art form that has been adapted for hundreds of years, and it is an honor to be a part of its evolution today.
It is so special to see yearbooks referenced in popular culture as well as in my own home. I often look through my parents’ yearbooks and the service album from my grandpa’s time in the war to better understand their experience and the world at that time. Print is the only thing that can really make that possible.
I am a big animal lover and am extremely passionate about animal welfare. I have a rescue dog of my own, Chuck, an 8-year-old beagle. Having grown up with beagles and having a soft heart, I grew passionate about fighting animal testing. Due to a beagle’s size and their docile and forgiving nature, they are often the breed of choice for animal testing. One way to combat this is to purchase household items and cosmetics with the “cruelty-free” label on them.
My favorite pastimes include going on walks with my dog, listening to music (classic rock and indie rock are preferred) and bopping around downtown Milwaukee. I love sightseeing, especially the buildings of old industrial towns. I also enjoy visiting breweries and watching Premier League soccer.
Walsworth has been a steady pillar in my life. It allowed me to bridge the gap from being a college student to a professional, working woman without losing my passions and personal endeavors. It has allowed me and my family many unique opportunities we are so very grateful for.
One of my absolute favorite memories is when I got to visit a classroom and a boy from the back of the room exclaimed “Stephanie’s here!” and then tried to play it cool and cover up the screech/excitement in his voice. Another would be attending the JEA/NSPA spring convention in LA where I got to see my design work featured in person for the very first time!
