Alec Aguirre
Marketing Department — Overland Park, Kansas
I am a marketing specialist on the yearbook side here at Walsworth.
In my day-to-day work, I get the opportunity to constantly take on new tasks, which I really enjoy. I also run our yearbook social media accounts and help our team provide materials to our sales reps.
I will have worked here for two years in January!
When I started, I was interested in a marketing role that encourages creativity, so this was a perfect fit.
The coolest thing I’ve gotten to do at work is manage our 2022 Photo Contest. It was exciting to see how many awesome photos were submitted and it was rewarding to see all the hard work pay off.
If I had a personalized coffee mug at work, it would say “Better to try and fail, than not try at all.”
What I love most about my job is that it truly feels like an extended family here and everyone genuinely wants to help each other succeed. I couldn’t have asked for better people to work with and I’m thankful to have a boss who believes in me.
A fun fact about me is my music taste hasn’t changed at all since my middle school days. I still listen to 2000’s hip hop and other throwback songs.
When I’m not at work, I really enjoy playing in soccer and basketball leagues during the week. I’ve also been aspiring to be the next Betty Crocker, even though my cooking is average at best.
My favorite memory I have here was going to JEA in LA this past April. It was the first time I was able to meet many of our reps and advisers since I started here during the pandemic. They all made me feel appreciated and it meant a lot.
