The Miracle Workers: Boy vs. Beast, written by author and advocate René Marsh, reveals the power of hope and faith when facing some of life’s toughest trials with an inspiring story and beautiful illustrations.
René became determined to use her gift of writing as a vehicle to raise awareness and funding for pediatric cancer research after her late son, Blake, was diagnosed with brain cancer at 9 months old, and penned “The Miracle Workers: Boy vs. Beast” during the months spent in the hospital for Blake’s cancer treatments.
In this book, the protagonist Blake has a monster of a problem, and only a miracle can save him! Encouraged by his best friend Mae, he unlocks the key to receive a miracle and calls upon the magical Miracle Workers for help. It was written to help parents teach children the abstract concept of hope so they will be better equipped for the challenges life guarantees.
All profits from “The Miracle Workers: Boy vs. Beast” go directly to the Blake Vince Payne Star Fund, which was established by the nonprofit Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation in Blake’s honor. The proceeds are donated to promising pediatric cancer research in hopes of finding cures.
Pediatric cancer is the number one cause of death by disease among children in the United States. Brain cancer is the deadliest form of childhood cancer.
