Debbie Shiflett
Cover Prep Department – Brookfield, Missouri
At Walsworth, I am a Cover Prep Technician. I receive info from schools on how they would like their yearbook covers to look. I have been working at both the Brookfield and Marceline plants for almost 20 years. I work in the Brookfield plant until it slows down then I transfer to the finishing plant in Marceline and work there until it is time for me to come back to my position in Brookfield. I have helped in the Bindery and Cover departments in Marceline and also the Kit department.
On a day-to-day basis, I gather info from the schools and talk with the CSR and sales reps to finish gathering any info needed to complete any cover and make it workable to move on. In my position, you never know what new task you’re going to learn.
I have been an employee at Walsworth for almost 28 years.
What I love most about my job is looking at all the cool ideas that the schools come up with for their yearbook cover designs.
If I had a personalized coffee mug at work, it would say “It takes a BIG heart to shape little minds”
The reason I come to work every day is my family. At Walsworth, I can provide a good, stable and healthy life for them.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy camping with my family and working in my yard. I love spending time with my kids and grandkids, taking them to the pool and on vacations.
I shop local when can so the community benefits from that, and so do most of my coworkers.
A favorite memory I have here was working with John Hamilton and John Leach together. I was hired into four-color mounting by John Leach. They brightened up any day!
